PROMOTER AEG Presents is to operate a new 4,400-capacity live music venue at Olympia London, part of a £1.3 billion ($1.7bn) regeneration of the exhibition, events and conference complex,
Sister company AEG Global Partnerships, both divisions of venue owner AEG, will oversee all naming rights and partnership deals for the whole Olympia London campus, which will include a cinema, restaurants, shops, hotels and office space, due for completion in 2024
Olympia London has hosted show by acts including Rod Stewart, Pink Floyd and, most recently, Richard Ashcroft, The Courteeners and Skepta, and has three nights with Foals in early May 2021.
“Olympia is steeped in British music history as far back as Jimi Hendrix in the ‘60s … and we plan to create many more iconic shows theree,” says AEG Presents CEO Steve Homer.
The venue will be the second London facility operated by AEG Presents, the other being Indigo at The O2 (cap, 2,800). It also owns 50 per cent of the Eventim Apollo (5,100) with German ticketing giant CTS Eventim.
Parent company AEG owns The O2 leisure complex, which includes the 21.000-capacity arena of the same name.
