PROMOTERS MELVIN Benn of Festival Republic and Simon Moran of SJM Concerts, along with artiste Ariana Grande and her manager Scooter Braun, were recognised as Industry Champions at the Artist & Manager Awards held in London on 14 November.

The accolade was presented as acknowledgement of the exceptional effort that went into organising in a short space of time the One Love Manchester benefit concert, in aid of the victims of the Manchester Arenas bombing in May.

“The terrorist attack was one of the year’s darkest moments, targeting young music fans and their families,” says Annabella Coldrick, CEO of the Music Manager’s Forum (MMF), which organised the awards with the Featured Artist Coalition (FAC). “To organise a concert in their memory, and to turn it into a joyous celebration, was an incredible achievement.”

Depeche Mode manager Jonathan Kessler received the Peter Grant Lifetime Achievement Award, while TAP Management’s Ben Mawson and Ed Millett, who count Lana Del Rey among their clients, won Manager of the Year.

Others honoured included former MMF president Jon Webster, who stepped down earlier this year. He received the Unsung Hero award, while Artist of the Year went to Rag’N’Bone Man.
