Ayres takes top job at Sound City

18 September 2018

CONVENTION and music festival Sound City has appointed Rebecca Ayres as it’s new MD, taking over the role from founder Dave Pichilingi.

Ayres, who has worked for the event since it began in 2008 and was made chief operating officer in 2012, while Pichilingi will focus more on records, publishing and entertainment partner company Modern Sky.

“Becky knows our brand and core philosophy better than anyone,” says Pichilingi. “We are a tight knit family and we will continue to work together across both Sound City and Modern Sky.”

Held at Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle, Sound City welcomed 2,000 delegates and around 7,000 festival-goers this year.

Ayres adds, “Dave has always been very supportive of me and I’m grateful to him and his vision that has led us to where we are now.”

The event returns from 3-5 May next year.
