Bonus for SMG with new venue

18 September 2018

THE INAUGURAL concert at Hull’s new £40 million, 3,500-capacity Bonus Arena was by Van Morrison and general manager Dan Harris promises to bring many more major artistes to the city.

The latest addition to SMG Europe venue portfolio, which includes Manchester Arena (21,000) and Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena (11,000), the venue offers a range of configurations from 2,900 seated to its mixed standing and seated full capacity format, being used by artistes such as Jack White, George Ezra, The Courteeners and Madness.

“There’s been a real change in how people view going out in Hull,” says Harris. “Its status as 2017’s European Capital of Culture reawakened the night time economy. There’s a vibrant feel about Hull and this arena is one of the legacies of that year.

“It has the size and feel of an arena and being part of the SMG Group gives us really good leverage getting shows.”
