Brayley joins Coventry Empire

6 May 2018

VETERAN BRISTOL promoter Dave Brayley of DCB Promotions has been appointed live music promoter and booker at The Empire Coventry (cap. 900).

Brayley’s more than 20 years experience as a leading promoter in Bristol and the South West includes five years working at Bristol’s Bierkeller (700), which closed in February.

The move sees Brayley team-up with The Empire’s operators, local restaurateur Phil Rooney and former lead singer of The Enemy, Tom Clarke.

Brayley says that among his priorities at the venue is attracting more up-and-coming touring acts via national promoters such as SJM Concerts and AEG Presents.

“We have enlarged the backstage area, and improved the dressing room and shower facilities, to make it more inviting for touring bands,” says Brayley.

“The production is already as good as it gets, there is a full L-Acoustics line array rig.”

Other changes include a new dedicated merchandise shop situated in the main hall, and improvements to in-house marketing both locally and nationally.

Brayley says The Empire faces stiff competition from similar-sized venues in Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Leicester, but the combination of the venue’s facilities and strong management team will see it win business.

Among acts scheduled to play the venue are The Damned, The Sherlocks and The Dualers.
