EKLECTICA, A new 8,000-capacity festival taking place in Isle of Wight’s Robin Hill County Park is encouraging local artistes to take the warm-up slot for headliners The Hoosiers.

Clare Ross, marketing manager of Vectis Ventures (VV), says that the event will provide a unique opportunity for the winning act.

“VV already have experience at putting on outdoor and woodland live events through our Electric Woods series of performances, which we hold throughout the year,” she says.

“This is obviously going to be something on a much bigger scale, and it’s a huge chance for a local act to play to thousands of people – applicants have to be living in the Isle of Wight to apply, as we wanted to make sure the focus is on helping musicians specifically from the region.”

Ross adds that the residency of the act is the only core criteria, and otherwise Eklectica is open-minded regarding genre.

We don’t have anything specific in mind, but there’s obviously an overall atmosphere that the act would need to fit into,” she says.

“Other acts on the line-up include Scouting For Girls, The Fratellis, Pixie Lott and The Noisettes, so it’s a broad spread of musical styles.”

Weekend non-camping tickets are available for the event, held from 7-9 September, from £60, with day tickets from £30.
