Fifty per cent boost for Aberdeen arena capacity

25 June 2019

THE 12,500-capacity Event Complex Aberdeen is to be renamed P&J Live after a deal was struck between venue operator SMG Europe and DC Thomson Media, which owns newspapers The Press and Journal and Evening Express.

Set to open this summer, the £333 million complex will replace the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (cap. 8,500) and as well as the arena, will feature conference and exhibition halls and a restaurant.

“The P&J Live partnership will ensure the fantastic acts, conferences and events will be known throughout the north of Scotland and beyond, which fits in with our Regional Economic Strategy with internalization at its heart,” says Aberdeen City Council councillor Douglas Lumsden.

Acts playing the new arena include Lewis Capaldi, Elton John and Alice Cooper.
