Growth of glamping drives new structures

24 July 2019

THE GLAMPING Show, expects to attract about 200 festival organisers out of its overall attendance of 3,500.

According to organiser Swan Events, festivals are an important part of the sector with Glastonbury (cap. 147,500) Cornbury (14,000) and Larmer Tree (5,000) among those using glamping to provide VIP and family facilities for festival-goers.

Swan’s Peter Rusbridge points out that festival glamping has grown by over 118 per cent in the last five years, according to Google’s Digital Garage business research facility, as a generation of festival-goers from the 1990s and 2000s increasingly take their families to festivals.

“This year we have an ever more diverse range of structures for festivals, from bell tents and pop-up tents to structures made from sustainable material including geodesic domes and tiny spherical houses,” he says.

The show boasts about 100 exhibitors including suppliers of structures plus accessories like hot tubs, fire pits and sanitary services. It runs from 19-21 September at the NAEC in Stoneleigh Park.
