Hampton Court enhances experience with new stage

A NEW acoustic stage has been added to Hampton Court Palace Festival (cap. 3,000), hosted in the formal gardens of the palace and supported by holiday company Viking River Cruises.

The stage will host “rising stars”, attractions such as a sabrage (cutting off the top of a champagne bottle with a sword) and an appearance by BBC Radio 2’s Chris Evans, aiming to enhance the visitor offer at the 26-year-old event.

“We’re always striving for better experiences,” says event producer Josh Finesilver, of organiser IMG, who believes the 13 night festival with headliners including Lionel Richie, Tom Jones, Gary Barlow, The Beach Boys and Jools Holland, allows audiences to experience arena-level artistes in an intimate, historic setting.

“Our audience predominantly come from the surrounding area – Hampton, Molesey and Kingston,” Finesilver adds. “We have a loyal fanbase who come back year after year but there’s a lot of competition and we always need to innovate.” Tickets range from £47.50 to £149.
