Live Nation and OVG to run new Cardiff Arena

News
15 December 2020

LIVE NATION Entertainment (LNE) has been chosen to jointly run the NEW 15,000-capacity Cardiff Arena, along with Oak View Group, the US company which is planning to build a new arena in Manchester.

Both companies will invest £10 million in the project, which will cost about £150m to build.

Expected to open in February 2024, the arena contributes to the regeneration of the Cardiff Bay area of the city and is expected to create 1,000 long term jobs. Its capacity will be more than double that of the city’s existing LNE-owned Motorpoint Arena (cap. 7,500).

Last year LN told Cardiff Council that it would relinquish its operation of Motorpoint Arena if it won the contract to operate the new venue (see Live UK, issue 230).
