New festival award for 2019

THE FESTIVAL Awards have confirmed a new category for next year to celebrate the achievements of women in the festival business.

The Women in Festivals category is in dedication to Tramlines festival director Sarah Nulty, who died in July (see LIVE UK 221).

“In addition to acknowledging Sarah’s myriad achievements with the presentation of our Outstanding Contribution to Festivals Award, we are also delighted to announce that in 2019 we will launch the Sarah Nulty Women in Festivals Award,” says Festival Awards manager Michael Baker

The announcement came as the winners were revealed at this year’s event at the Troxy in London on 6 December.

Download Festival scooped Best Major Festival, while 2000trees and ArcTanGent won Best Medium and Small Festivals respectively.

Other winners included Timber Festival as Best New Festival, All Points East with Best Line-Up of the Year and Coda Music Agency, who took Agency of the Year.
