An online guide to managing digital data

18 March 2019

MUSIC MANAGERS Forum (MMF) has published an online guide designed to enable artistes and their managers to gain increased value and insight from fan data.

The latest instalment of the MMF’s series of Dissecting The Digital Dollar reports, the Fan Data Guide outlines key data types artistes and their managers should have access to, while offering advice about how data garnered from music streaming, ticket sales, social media activity and affiliate partnerships can be used to gain valuable insight into their fanbase and help drive revenue.

The Fan Data Guide was written by Chris Cooke of CMU Insights in collaboration with MMF board members Lisa Ward of Red Light Management, Tom Burris of ie:music, Wicksteed Work’s Jessie Scoullar and digital and social media solicitor Peter Mason of Russells.

“Everybody knows how important data is but very few know exactly how to harness it effectively,” says MMF chair Paul Craig of Nostromo Management.

“This Guide is a much-needed resource for managers and artistes which provides education and information about the current music business landscape and the many questions they need to be asking their business partners.”
