OVG reveals partners for Manchester arena

9 April 2020

OAK VIEW Group (OVG), the US company behind the plan for a new 23,500-capacity arena in Manchester, has filed a planning application to the city council, appointed Populous as principal architect and designer, and Royal BAM Group (BAM) as its construction partner.

The £350 million venue, located next to Manchester City football club’s Etihad Stadium (cap. 63,000) in the Eastlands area of Manchester, would directly compete with the ASM Global-operated Manchester Arena (21,000).

Acoustics expert Vanguardia, which worked on London’s The O2 (21,000), has also been engaged.

“While we are living in uncertain times, we know that Manchester and its people are resilient,” says OVG CEO Tim Leiweke. “We look forward to being intrinsic to the redevelopment of the east of the city.”

OVG was founded in 2015 by former AEG CEO Tim Leiweke and former chairman of Live Nation Entertainment and renowned artiste manager Irving Azoff, and also owns US live industry publication Pollstar.
