A THREE-night live music festival with camping is to be added to motor sport’s FIA World Rallycross Championship, as it relocates to the Silverstone race track in Northamptonshire in May.

Speedmachine, organised by IMG for the FIA, will be, headlined by Dizzee Rascal, Basement Jaxx and a Ministry of Sound “takeover”.

“We’re stepping-up the level of entertainment and offering something new to the audience,” says festival director Gabrielle Williams. “Although the championship is at the heart of the event, we felt it was a great opportunity to offer visitors more than just racing.

“We’re encouraging the music audience to get into motorsports, while offering evening entertainment to motorsports

“This is the first time we’ve done a combined music and sports event on this scale,” says Williams. “We’re pooling all the talents in our portfolio to pull off something ‘mega’.

“Tickets are selling really well and extending beyond the core motorsports fans. We’ve had a good response from the market.” The event will include street food, e-gaming and manufacturers’ test drives.

Tickets range from £50 per day to £140 for a weekend camping.
