VER provided the video screen for Steps

VIDEO DIRECTOR Phil Jennings aimed for a vibrant look combining pre-recorded video content and image magnification (IMAG) for Steps’ UK arena tour, as he called on screen supplier VER London to provide a custom-built, multi-layered LED video wall for the spectacle.

The screen needed to incorporate an 18 metre by 10m upstage back wall and was located behind a three tier, on-stage riser complete with bespoke sliding doors on two levels to allow the performers direct access to the stage. VER also supplied a suite of cameras and IMAG screens for real time performance footage.

VER’s crew chief John Wynne and his six-strong team worked with the production from the live rehearsals at Fly By Nite Studios in Redditch, through to the series of dates at venues including Manchester Arena (cap. 21,000), Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena (11,000) and Birmingham’s Genting Arena (15,700).

“The Steps shows have been immensely well received, so it’s hugely satisfying to see the video installation playing such a great supporting role,” says VER business development manager Lester Cobrin.
