Vision 2025 survey focuses on future

23 July 2020

THE ANNUAL survey of festivals’ environmental practices by sustainability campaign Vision 2025 takes a different tone this year following the cancellation of all events this summer.

Instead of questions about organisers’ sustainability practices during the season, the poll will ask them how their experiences this year will affect their environmental priorities in the future.

“Normally, there’s great value in having the same questions each year so we can track changes in practice and ambitions,” says Vision 2025 chair Chris Johnson, who also organises of Shambala (cap. 15,000).

“As the data grows we can draw comparisons. The  signs between 2018 and 2019 were really encouraging. In 2018 festivals took action on plastic while 2019 saw many appoint a dedicated sustainability role.”

He hopes over 100 festivals will complete the survey and expects events from the largest to boutique gatherings to take part.  The survey findings will be announced after the summer.
